Gender Transformative Approach (GTA) Workshop for Swisscontact

The workshops on the Gender Transformative Approach (GTA), undestanding the theory of gender empowerment engagements. Through interactive discussions and group activities, participants explored the distinctions between sex and gender, the influence of patriarchal structures, and the various forms of power that shape societal norms. They examined how gender intersects with class, race, ethnicity, and ability to reinforce systemic barriers and reflected on strategies to challenge these inequalities. The session introduced the Gender Equality Continuum, highlighting the transition from gender-blind and exploitative practices to gender-transformative programming that actively challenges harmful norms, building strategies to promote structural changes and transformative shifts in the community and individual levels aimed to create a more just and inclusive society.
